The Bourdieu Lectures are an annual symposium series at Bielefeld University, organized and hosted in close collaboration with Zeppelin University (Friedrichshafen), the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the University of Education Freiburg, and the Fondation Pierre Bourdieu.
The series is aimed in particular at early-career researchers and scholars who are at the beginning of their academic careers. The thematic focus of the symposium varies from year to year and is determined by the Bourdieu Lectures’ academic committee. In doing so, we draw upon the diverse sociological work of Pierre Bourdieu and apply central concepts to contemporary discourses and current issues.
The conference series is organized by Prof. Dr. Ullrich Bauer (Bielefeld University), Prof. Dr. Franz Schultheis, Charlotte Hüser, Lilli Kim Schreiber (Zeppelin University), Prof. Dr. Uwe Bittlingmayer (University of Education Freiburg), and Jens Kastner (Academy of Fine Arts Vienna)
